Get Your Spice Drawer Organized

After pulling out six different bottles of spices trying to look for the one I wanted, I realized it was time to get a better system in place. While everything was neatly rowed up or laying flat in the spice drawer organizer, it just wasn’t working.

A few problems with the existing layout:

  1. The tops of the spice jars weren’t labeled
  2. The bottles were of various sizes, shapes, and colors
  3. There was no more space for new spices

The solution was to order glass spice jars. I ordered two sets of these spice jars that came with printed labels.

Prior to decanting, I took inventory of what I had, tossing spices that had expired, and purchased some new ones that were running low or that I wanted to add to my inventory.

In order to avoid using spices past their prime, I wrote the expiration dates of each spice on the bottom of the glass jars in permanent marker (I’m confident a trusty Magic Eraser will take it off when the time comes).

I removed the spice drawer organizer as it was taking up too much valuable space. Instead, I decided to row everything up so that the labeled lids would be clearly visible.
