Our Wedding: Invitation Suite

There are so many decisions to make when planning a wedding. When the time comes to find the perfect invitation suite you are met with more decisions: which vendor to use, style, design, price point, fonts, informal or formal language, include or not include parents names on the invitation… the list goes on.

Because we were getting married in Hawaii, we decided to incorporate a pineapple motif into our wedding suite, and in our wedding decor, because pineapples are a symbol of warmth and welcome, something that reflects the aloha spirit of the Hawaiian Islands and the feeling that we wanted to convey to our guests.

After doing a fair amount of research online and making a few visits to shops that design and print invitations, I had decided to customize our invitation suite online at zazzle.com. I loved the simplicity of the pineapple and design of the invitation suite. To make it more personal, I adjusted the fonts on each piece and the wording on our invitation. I completely designed and customized the save the date and MA reception cards.

We used coordinating navy belly-bands (a very odd name for a paper product) to bundle up each piece of the invitation suite using our initials on the front and enclosed them in coordinating envelopes. Unfortunately, I didn’t get a picture of those.

What I liked about using Zazzle is that all my edits and designs get saved, so I could play around with a few different layouts and font styles and compare them and choose the type of cardstock. They always have promotions going on, so I waited for promotions that offered 30-40% off invitations making them really affordable. Where there was an issue was with their quality control – I had to request multiple reprints of our invitations because they kept printing crooked. The third try was successful, fortunately, because I started to question my decision. Second, I printed the mailing addresses on all of the envelopes and the higher quality paper I chose was not compatible with any printer I tried (Laser and Ink Jet), so I had to order a lower grade paper for our envelopes in order to print them at home which wasn’t a big deal.

I should add, this is not a sponsored post as Zazzle doesn’t know me beyond being the customer that had to contact customer service a few times to get a printing issue resolved. I just wanted to share my experience, particularly because I loved the option to customize and the price was great.
