Coastal Inspired Laundry Room

Having grown up in Massachusetts and visiting Cape Cod many summers, I’ve always loved the New England coastal charm and homeyness.

Now that I’m living 3,000 miles away in California, I find that this decorative style is quite nostalgic for me.

My parents have been renovating various rooms in their home, and one of the rooms on their list was their laundry room tucked away in the basement.

I put together this mood board for them to give them some inspiration. What better way to liven up a windowless room in the basement that with whites, natural textures and green-gray painted walls?

This Sherwin-Williams paint color, Sea Salt, has been a favorite of mine for years (I included it in this round up of beautiful green-gray paint colors). It’s light and not too green as it has a subtle gray undertone. This color works great in pretty much any space, and the laundry room – a space that you want to feel fresh and clean – is a great spot to use it coupled with beadboard on the lower portion of the walls and/or the ceiling for added interest.

Someday when we get a laundry room I might just replicate this design in our space.
