Here’s how the bathroom looked when I purchased the condo:
That bathroom vanity literally hit me mid-thigh, and I’m 5’5″.
One of the things on my must-have list for the bathroom was marble floors, so we made that happen. While renovating the bathroom, my dad also switched out all the trim around the doors and the window, also creating a beautiful ledge around the window. We replaced the wood baseboard with marble baseboard.
The paint color I chose is Gray Lake by Benjamin Moore. It’s a beautiful, neutral and serene green-gray. I tested out a number of similar paint colors, but ultimately found that this looked the best in the space.
I was having a hard time finding a shower curtain that I liked, and the majority available in retail are 72×72″. I wanted to utilize the height of the space, so I ended up using two curtain panels that were 84″. Using longer panels draws your eyes up and makes the space feel larger.
Since taking these photos (apologies for the poor quality), I’ve upgraded the hardware that came with the vanity. I purchased these inexpensive handles as I preferred the cleaner lines and detail.
At the time we renovated the bathroom, we did not upgrade the shower tile. Why? Well, at the time my rationale was that the 4×4″ white tile looked just fine. In hindsight, I should have done a full renovation. You can see in the above image that the reflection in the mirror shows a tile inlay that I installed. It turned out okay, but tackling the shower and replacing all the tile will be the next phase of the bathroom renovation. I’m thinking a larger scale white or marble subway tile. The goal is to minimize the number of grout lines and bigger tiles will achieve that.
